Music filled the air
Music and bands seemed important growing up in the 1970s and 1980s. I wrote my first song on piano around 1980 at age nine. I'd been listening to an eclectic record collection featuring rock and roll, country, American folk music, marching band and movie soundtracks, even whale songs! I was then swept into the breakdancing craze of the early 1980s, followed by an obsession with reggae music. It wasn't until I heard the Grateful Dead in 1987 that I decided to pursue music as a career. I then played percussion briefly in a ska band, and keys for GD cover bands. I eventually founded a southern rock band, but left when the band went beyond my vision.
THE ROAD Goes on forever
Over the next three decades I performed small shows for mostly bars and coffee houses in Hawaii, Florida, New Jersey, and my home state of Pennsylvania. Unable to secure a legitimate recording deal, I was left to fend for myself in the DIY music scene. However, music wasn't paying the bills, so I went back to school and earned four separate degrees in IT (Diploma), Electronic Engineering (AS), Nanotechnology (AAS), and Business (AA), along with certifications in Keyboards and Bass. Honing my skills in tech and business, I would still book small regional tours advertising the shows on popular social media websites. I was gaining some traction in my regional music scene, but it was still an uphill climb.
TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON
The winds of fate suddenly changed direction, and I was able to launch Sunshine Records, LLC in November of 2019. This was followed by the first company twelve song album release entitled "In the Islands" during the summer of 2023. The album was advertised in several leading music magazines in the US and England, and it's currently receiving radio airplay throughout the US and Europe to some favorable charting.
I'm back in school (yet again) working on recording and musicianship, and another album is in the works. I hope to get back out on the road in 2025 to begin playing live shows again.
