Music and bands seemed important growing up in the 1970s and 1980s. I wrote my first song on piano around 1980 at age 9. I'd been listening to an eclectic record collection featuring rock and roll, country, American folk music, whale songs, marching band and movie soundtracks. I was then swept into the breakdancing craze of the early 1980s, followed by an obsession with reggae music. It wasn't until I heard the Grateful Dead in 1987 that I decided to pursue music as a career. I then played percussion briefly in a ska band, and keys for GD cover bands. I eventually founded a southern rock band, but left when the band went beyond my vision.
I'd been writing songs and getting better as a keyboard and guitar player. I had no band. Now what? Wait, what is that? Scary things are waking me up at night. Are the clouds talking to me? In Autumn of 1994 I decided on a whim to fly to CA and apply for a job with a prominent rock band. I'm turned away at the door. Hold on, something is talking to me? What? It's GOD? BAM!! I'm saved by Jesus Christ in February of 1995 and move to Hawaii that April. The next four years I'm involved with Church life, Bible studies, and Bible colleges while learning professional music from a new friend who runs a Motown convention band. I'm also introduced to Christian and Hawaiian music.
In late 1998 I step off my sailboat in HI and return to PA. I record an album in 1999 and set off on a solo career playing gigs up and down the East Coast, but it all falls apart within a few years. Financially stressed, I earn an IT diploma and begin a career in tech while pecking away at music. Things go like that for almost two decades. I earn three additional degrees in Electronic Engineering (AS), Nanotechnology (AAS), and Business (AA), along with certs from Berklee Online in Keyboards and Bass.
I launched Sunshine Records, LLC in November of 2019, followed by the first album release entitled "In the Islands" during the summer of 2023. I'm looking forward to recording many more albums in the future along with hitting the road for live performances. I hope you enjoy the music as much as I've enjoyed creating it!
